Homeland Security - Information Sharing
Delivering real-time information to key personnel when it is needed is a cornerstone of effective Homeland Security. It has been Emerald's focus since 1998.
Early Adopters
Emerald Systems, Inc. pioneered Web-based information sharing processes with law enforcement agencies in the late 1990s. These applications bridged the disparate system barrier and delivered the first real-time law enforcement information to agencies in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Data Standards
As data sharing requirements began to grow in the Justice community, Emerald worked closely with the US Dept. of Justice through the IJIS Institute to participate in developing standards for information sharing. Today, Emerald products support the Justice XML (GJXDM) and NIEM standards.
Web Portals
As the needs for national and international data sharing increased, the Internet became the medium to access and share data. Web portals were established to provide a means of communicating information. Portals became a Virtual Information Sharing medium. In 2002, Emerald put a new twist to Web portals by creating Virtual Information Management applications that addressed law enforcement and the corrections market. These applications were unique to the market.
Emerald Systems, Inc. is a Microsoft Government Partner and is committed to Virtual Information Sharing and Virtual Information Management for Homeland Security.
